About Me

MEChA's mission is to educate and in form students about educational, political and social consciousness, as well as providing guidance and resources that will benefit individuals in their path to success. MEChA de SMC Spring 2011 goals: Our goal is to inform students of this campus about AB540 students and to create a long-term scholarship program. We also want to outreach to high schools to guide them in the right direction for a better and higher education. Lastly, we are advocating for the creation of a M.E.Ch.A library system among the members !See you at the meetings!

M.E.Ch.A de SMC - 2011-2012 Fall Semester

Monday's Meeting Discussion
11/14/2011

1. Chirla will come next Tuesday to provide information and training for immediate action to support the Dream Act.
2. Bowling, Glow in the Dark Mini Golf, Paint Ball, and other events will have to be decided for December. Either we want it as a fundraiser or just to hang out and the time and date.
3. Black Friday Gift Wrapping to fundraiser idea. Will be discussed next meeting.
4. Asco exhibit at LACMA- Nati will go over it
5. Occupy L.A- Nati will go over it
6. Committees: Internal, External, Public Relations, and fundraiser. Will be discussed through Power Point this Thursday.
7. Nominations for Spring semester.
8. Scholarship requirements.

WINTER SEMESTER
1. We would like to meet during winter semester to plan events for spring semester.
2. Fundraisers might take place, based on the member's agreement, and we will also have a Christmas get together.

UPCOMING EVENTS
1. Nov. 17th. Black and Brown. HSS 165. 6:30pm-9:30pm
2. Next Tuesday 11:15a-12:35p in LS110. Chirla and CA Dream Act training for immediate action
