About Me

MEChA's mission is to educate and in form students about educational, political and social consciousness, as well as providing guidance and resources that will benefit individuals in their path to success. MEChA de SMC Spring 2011 goals: Our goal is to inform students of this campus about AB540 students and to create a long-term scholarship program. We also want to outreach to high schools to guide them in the right direction for a better and higher education. Lastly, we are advocating for the creation of a M.E.Ch.A library system among the members !See you at the meetings!

Agenda:  Short meeting, but we had a lot to talk about.

1. We discussed the racist structure of oppression, and some events that were committed to minorities mainly Asians, African-Americans, and Mexicans in the U.S.
2. The danger of participating in social justice movements were addressed briefly.
3. The quote for the M.E.Ch.A. shirt picked today
4. Plan to visit the USC library after spring break.

 Events:
  • A.L.A.S. had an ex-gang member as their speaker today.
  • Meeting with M.E.Ch.A de USC this Thursday night at 7 p.m. for those interested we will be addressing it  further on Thursday's meeting.
  •   AB540 Conference @ East Los Angeles College this Saturday April 9, 2011 from 8-4 P.M. 
  • Screening of "Inside Job" cancelled tomorrow
  •   Lastly, VOTE FOR JESSE RODRIGUEZ AS STUDENT TRUSTEE!!! ELECTIONS END THURSDAY, SO LET YOUR FRIENDS KNOW!!
